The real Bob the Barbary Sheep

Trips to the High Park Zoo in Toronto have been a regular part of my kids' childhood, visiting the llamas, capybaras, bisons, and of course, the Barbary sheep! This was the inspiration for the character 'Bob' in the Condo Kids. When the 120-year-old zoo was on the verge of being shut down in 2011 after the city cut funding, the boys were devastated. Thankfully the community rallied to raise enough funds to keep the free attraction open. Friends of the High Park Zoo recently unveiled their new plan to redesign the space. In the "Condo Kids," the character Noah sneaks a Barbary sheep home from the zoo because his mom won't let him have a pet. For the record, my kids weren't responsible for letting those capybaras loose last year!
